Rajoles del Camí Ignasià

Description
The orange ceramic tile with the image of a sun is the identifying symbol of the Ignatian Way. The places where the tiles are found mark the route within the urban core of the town.
The Ignatian Way is a religious, cultural and spiritual itinerary that recreates the path that the knight Ignatius of Loyola traveled in 1522 from the Sanctuary of Loyola, in the Basque Country to Manresa.
The Camí Ignasià is a route of almost seven hundred kilometers that allows you to enjoy a great diversity of landscapes, from the Basque Country, La Rioja, Navarra, Aragon and Catalonia.
The Way consists of twenty-seven stages, and Verdú begins the twenty-fourth stage and is the last hundred kilometers.
Context
The Ignatian Way Tiles were installed in Verdú to revitalize and promote religious and cultural tourism in the region. This path, which follows the footsteps of Saint Ignatius of Loyola from his birthplace in the Basque Country to the Manresa cave in Catalonia, has a deep spiritual and historical meaning. Verdú, a town with a rich medieval heritage and a strong religious tradition, saw in this initiative an opportunity to highlight its identity and attract pilgrims and tourists interested in following the Ignatian route.
The installation of the tiles, decorative tiles that mark the route of the path, was done with the aim of offering a clear visual guide for pilgrims, as well as beautifying the urban environment of Verdú. These tiles not only serve as route markers, but also act as elements that integrate local history and culture into the Ignatian Way.
