Description

Topic: The Music.

Elements: Located in a magnificent setting, Plaça Major de Verdú, we find a chamber quartet. These elements remind us of the Chamber Music and Instrumental Ensemble Course that was held in the town for ten years. Eduard Boleda was the promoter of the course that brought together around eighty precocious musicians from different disciplines every year. Since 2010, the mural reminds us of these courses, with the signature that we can see on the bottom right. Nowadays, the activity has changed, but the rhythm has not stopped. Since 2012, in the summers, the Concert Series has been held at Cal Prim.

Style: Figurative

Symbolism: Chamber Music and Instrumental Ensembles course held in Verdú.

Context

Ordered: Private initiative.

Historical context: Cal Prim is a manor house located in a street perpendicular to the Plaza Mayor. It consists of a wide facade that is organized on three floors and also has three access doors, with the central one slightly wider than the two lateral ones. In the central part of the facade there is a balcony with a window on both sides. At the top of the facade is a succession of seven windows with semicircular arches. General Prim’s ancestors lived in this house. The family that currently lives there is very connected to music. From the year 2012, the Cal Prim Concert Series began, which reached its thirteenth edition in 2024.

Curiosities: It has been the home of General Prim’s ancestors. Characters like Bartomeu Prim, doctor and professor at the University of Cervera, also lived there, as well as Joan Prim, an outstanding composer, organist and chapel master.
