Description

Elements: Panel made up of twelve tiles that remember the ephemeris that 2002 was the Year of Verdaguer. Poet linked to Verdú since he wrote the Joys of Sant Pere Claver.
Style: Between figurative and realistic.
Context
Ordered: Friends of Sant Pere Claver.
Historical context: The origin of the tile panel dedicated to Monsignor Cinto is the canonization of the most illustrious Verdun, Sant Pere Claver. In January 1888, the Catalan Jesuit was canonized, and for this reason Verdaguer wrote some joys of praise to the new saint, “Joys in praise of the Glorious Apostle of the blacks Sant Pere Claver”. In fact, both in the days before the canonization and in the days after, the figure of Pere Claver was widely covered in the written press of the time. Jacint Verdaguer, the great Catalan poet, contributes to the spread of the devotion of a new saint.
Curiosities: In 1974 the face of Carrer Sant Pere Claver changed. The Verdú City Council bought three houses on the corner of Carrer Santa Magdalena and gave them to the Company of Jesus, to enlarge the Sanctuary and create the Garden. It was inaugurated during the events of the Festa Major de Sant Pere Claver in 1971.
