It is one of the houses with the most history, with prominent characters linked to the circumstances and events of the country. Cal Trenca were surnamed Gener and we find them in Verdú since the end of the 17th century. The Trenca were weavers of linen, a fibrous plant that, together with hemp, was used for weaving. Among the tools used for weaving was the hemp breaking bench. Trenca’s reputation probably derives from this bench that the weavers used to prepare or break the hemp. The Trenca family had an important and advanced grocery store and a pharmacy in C. Major for many years.
