El celler Mas de Mora

Topic: Viticulture Mural dedicated to the cellar and winemaking.

Elements: On this occasion, the artist uses the frame of the access door to the cellar to explain the wine-making process. On one side of the door we find the representation of the Verdun landscape; the vine with its fruit, in a moment of autumn, where the colors mimic the season just before harvesting. On the other side of the door we see the characteristic elements of the vintage; the harvesters in the first place, the carriers and also the moment when the wine is filled in the bottles for subsequent marketing. Orobitg also shows us another element that we recognize as the winery’s logo, the letter ó enclosed within two brackets, a symbol that in linguistics is used to include the phonetic transcription of a sound. The last element we recognize in the mural is the name of the winery we refer to at the top of the door.

Historical context: The town’s economy has always been eminently agricultural, the vine has been the predominant crop, perhaps because it is hardy and able to adapt to temperature contrasts and especially to the little rain, which has lasted and has become an important sector increasing production. Celler Mas de Mora is currently closed. At the moment Verdú has four active wine cellars.
